HSE Prosecution: Company convicted and fined £1.5 million after death of contractor

A steel manufacturer has been prosecuted by Health and Safety Executive after a contractor was crushed by a piece of machinery on one of its sites.

Failure to prevent fraud offence takes effect

From September 2025, large organisations can be prosecuted for benefitting from fraud within their organisation under the new offence of ‘failure to prevent fraud’.

From September 2025, the Competition and Markets Authority will be actively reviewing whether B2C businesses have an appropriate, public facing consumer reviews policy and those in non-compliance are at risk of significant penalties.
