Welcome to Gordons Employment Team’s latest update
This month we will cover:
- How to demonstrate all reasonable steps are taken to prevent harassment in the workplace;
- Ethnicity and disability and pay rap reporting – what to expect and how to prepare; and,
- How to manage the rise in whistleblowing.
How can an employer demonstrate they have taken all reasonable steps to prevent harassment in the workplace?
The Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) recently decided that an employer had taken all reasonable steps to prevent harassment in the workplace, leading to the dismissal of claims in Campbell v Sheffield Teaching North Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Hammond.
Ethnicity and disability pay gap reporting – what to expect and how to prepare
Last month, the Government opened a consultation on mandatory pay gap reporting on ethnicity and disability. This is ahead of the publication of the draft Equality (Race and Disability) Bill which is likely to introduce this mandatory reporting.
Whistleblowing – what steps should an employer take to combat the rise of claims?
Whistleblowing is when a worker of an organisation makes a ‘protected disclosure’ to their employer to raise concerns of possible wrongdoing. Examples of wrongdoing include: fraud, crime, health and safety concerns and other serious risks that could threaten customers, colleagues, stakeholders or the organisation’s reputation.
If you require any further information on the above topics, please do not hesitate to get in contact with a member of the Employment Team.
