Philip finds commercial solutions to employment related problems. He adopts a highly pragmatic and practical approach.
As well as providing a helpline service to a range of employers in sectors including, education, logistics and manufacturing, Philip regularly provides strategic advice on large corporate planning and re-structuring exercises. On the individual side, Philip regularly acts for directors and senior employees in relation to contract negotiations and contract terminations. Clients describe him as “very decisive, straightforward to deal with, and gives good advice”.
He also undertakes his own advocacy and defends companies in employment tribunal.
Philip’s successes include:
- Achieving a headcount reduction of 25% in a workforce of nearly 300 within a two month window with minimal business interruption and no claims.
- Obtaining maximum costs against a claimant in an unfair dismissal claim.
- Advising on a strategy for a dismissed director which resulted in the doubling of the settlement offer despite the original offer being already £200,000 above the statutory maximum
