The Employment Rights Act – what you need to know

The Employment Rights Act (‘ERA’) received Royal Assent on 18 December 2025.
The ERA 2025, is the first phase of the Government’s plan to “Make Work Pay” and intends to “modernise the UK’s labour market and employment practices”
The majority of the changes will take effect in phases between early 2026 and late 2027, along with consultations and additional secondary legislation to follow.
There has already been some changes to what will expect to see in the next few months and beyond, therefore, here is our second and latest briefing on all the changes.
