Gordons shortlisted in two categories at Yorkshire Legal Awards 2025

Tuesday 12th August 2025

The awards, which will be held on 9 October at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, will see hundreds of the region’s professionals gather to celebrate the successes of Yorkshire legal community.

Gordons’ litigation lawyer, Lauren Barclay has been shortlisted for the rising star of the year award and Gordons is also shortlisted for the corporate and commercial team of the year award.

The shortlistings are recognition of a successful 12 months for both Lauren and the corporate and commercial team.

Lauren

Since qualifying Lauren has been developing an impressive niche in the food sector and advising suppliers on the Groceries Supply Code of Practice (GSCOP). Acting on the first two High Court cases involving GSCOP, her work has the potential to help re-shape the groceries industry. Not only this, but Lauren is a key part of the Gordons’ interventions team with her work covered in the media, Legal Futures.

Lauren is a rising star within Gordons. She was the first in her family to go to university and has benefited from help from the Sutton Trust and The King’s Trust where she was supported to gain valuable opportunities at University of Birmingham Summer School for Law and work experience with DLA Piper, Hogan Lovells and Linklaters.

She has since sought to be involved with the charities that helped her, and is now an Education Mentor at The King’s Trust.

Corporate and commercial team

Gordons’ corporate and commercial team has enjoyed continued success over many years.

In the last year the team advised JMG on over 20 acquisitions and has continued to be the legal partner of Lifted Ventures, in support of female-focused investments.

This shortlisting follows partner Amy Pierechod receiving a nomination for Yorkshire rainmaker of the year in 2024, the first woman to be nominated for this award in Yorkshire, and Lauren Wills-Dixon, head of privacy, being shortlisted for Yorkshire lawyer of the year in 2024.

Victoria Davey, managing partner at Gordons, said: “These shortlistings are recognition of the fantastic work done by Lauren and the corporate and commercial team.

“Lauren has excelled in becoming a specialist in her fields in a short period of time, so is thoroughly deserving of this shortlisting. Lauren constantly strives to increase her legal knowledge and technical skills to better serve our clients. It is a pleasure to watch her progress, and impressive to see how she is at the heart of so many client relationships at this stage of her career.

“Our corporate and commercial team is one of the most trusted and active teams in the region, their strength lying in their strong and long-standing client relationships.

“We wish both Lauren and the corporate and commercial team the very best of luck for the awards evening.”
