Gordons donates workwear to Smart Works Leeds

Tuesday 27th July 2021

Gordons has donated a selection of women’s workwear items to Leeds-based charity Smart Works to further help unemployed women get back into work.

Smart Works opened in November 2019 and its mission is to help unemployed women regain the confidence they need to succeed at interviews, return to employment and transform their lives.

Smart Works supports women from a range of different backgrounds and ages throughout their employment journey by providing coaching on how to apply for, and interview for, roles.

As part of the support it offers, Smart Works provides women with high-quality clothes for interviews as well as a wardrobe of clothing options for successful candidates to wear to work.

70 per cent of the women Smart Works has supported through the job interview process have succeeded in securing a job.

The clothing items which Smart Works provides to women include new and nearly new high quality shoes, bags, dresses, skirts, trousers blazers and accessories. All the clothes are provided completely free of charge and are given to women for them to keep.

Gordons corporate solicitor, Lauren Wills-Dixon, who organised the donation, said: “Smart Works is a really important charity which plays a vital role in helping many women back into work and empowering them to be the best they can be.

“The support it provides has been especially crucial at a time when many women have lost their jobs due to the disruption caused by the pandemic, so we’re really pleased to be able to support the charity with this donation. I encourage those who are able to do so to donate a special and quality item of clothing to Smart Works and help them continue their amazing work.
