Gordons has advised automotive retailer D.M. Keith on the acquisition of Leeds and Doncaster-based car dealership Ringways Motor Group.

The deal has seen the Leeds-headquartered family-owned business’s combined turnover increase to £250m.

Consequently, the business has moved up the automotive retail group rankings – AM100, which lists the top 100 automotive retail groups via turnover – by 30 places. It is now placed within the top 60 AM100 motor groups in the UK and represents six brands with 13 showrooms across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, employing 445 people.

Dougal Keith, managing director of DM Keith, commented: “The acquisition of Ringways; a well-known and respected business in the Yorkshire area, enables us to continue to invest in our business for future and sustainable growth. We have a long-term desire to increase our portfolio and the addition of two fantastic brands is a huge step in the right direction.”

Gordons corporate partner, Duncan Firman, led a multi-disciplinary team advising on the deal comprising corporate solicitors Lisa Murphy and Lucy Leyland, commercial property solicitor James Kimberley and employment solicitor Oliver Allanach.

Graduate legal executive Daniel Western and apprentice legal executive Lauren Wurzal assisted the team on the deal.

Duncan Firman said: “We are delighted to have advised DM Keith on its acquisition of Ringways. This is a great addition to the DM Keith group and will further support its growth, following its acquisition of Westgate Motors in 2018 which we also advised on. Congratulations to Dougal, Angus and Simon and the wider team.”
