Friday 2nd November 2012

Gordons carried-off its fifth major award of 2012 when it was named Yorkshire’s Best Business with a Turnover of Between £10m and £50m in a prestigious scheme.

The firm took the accolade in the annual Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards, sponsored by the region’s principal newspaper. The awards recognise “the world-class companies and individuals playing a vital role in delivering prosperity and growth to Yorkshire, through ingenuity, inspiration and hard work.”

Gordons was also short listed in the scheme’s Outstanding Employer of the Year category.

Managing Partner Paul Ayre said: “It’s a real accolade to be named Yorkshire’s best business in our turnover band. We’re delighted at the news because it’s due reward for our dedicated and hard-working team.”

The Yorkshire Post recognition followed other awards success for Gordons in 2012. The firm was runner-up in the Regional Law Firm of the Year category in the annual awards operated by sector publication The Lawyer. It was also named Law Firm of the Year in the Insider Yorkshire Property Industry Awards.

In addition, Gordons took the UK & Ireland Regional Team of the Year accolade in the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Private Client Awards and the Private Client Team of the Year prize in the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards. Paul Ayre was also named Managing Partner of the Year in the latter scheme.

In addition, the firm was highly commended in the Community Investment category of the Law Society’s Excellence Awards.

A decision is also awaited after Gordons was shortlisted in Diversity Initiative of the Year section of the British Legal Awards.
