Prestigious award win for Private Client Team

Tuesday 18th December 2012

The private client team at Yorkshire law firm Gordons is celebrating after winning a prestigious award.

The team took the UK and Ireland Regional prize in the annual Private Client Awards organised by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). The accolades recognise excellence among professionals in the private client arena.

Open to teams located outside London, the regional team category asked entrants to demonstrate a clear capacity for handling complex and demanding client issues and show how their practices attract and maintain professional staff. Entrants also had to describe their firms’ sector specialisms, breadth of services and delivery to clients, alongside their use of technology and the investment going into their practices.

Paul Ayre, Gordons’ managing partner, said: “We’re delighted with this victory, which follows our shortlisting in the UK and Ireland Contentious Trusts and Estates Team of the Year category of the STEP awards last year.

“We have one of the largest private client teams outside London, now containing a specialist charities and education unit, which advises a wide variety of people and trusts, some clients having wealth exceeding £100m. This accolade is a thoroughly merited reward for the outstanding overall service the team provides in what can be a complex practice area.”

The STEP awards’ presiding judges were eminent professionals and experts in the private client field.

The STEP award follows further award recognition for Gordons in 2012. The firm was runner-up in the Regional Law Firm of the Year category in the annual Lawyer awards . In addition, decisions are awaited after Gordons was shortlisted in two categories of the Law Society Excellence, Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business, and Yorkshire Lawyer Awards, and one section of the Insider Yorkshire Property Awards.
