GSCOP Training Workshop – 28 March
The Groceries Supply Code of Practice (‘GSCOP’) came into force on February 2010 and was intended to protect suppliers to major supermarkets from being treated unfairly. The top eleven supermarkets are legally required to train their buyers on GSCOP annually. However, around 45% of suppliers have received no GSCOP training. If you are in the 55%, 45% of your competitors have an advantage over you.
GSCOP implies restrictions on the major supermarkets’ behaviour which form part of a supplier contract with the supermarket. Not knowing GSCOP means that you do not know your legal rights. Not knowing your legal rights means that you are at a commercial disadvantage.

Our workshop provides you with a root and branch understating of GSCOP and how to use it in a commercially effective way. We will explain the purpose of GSCOP, its contents, how it has been applied, the role of the Groceries Code Adjudicator, the latest development and how supermarkets’ behaviour is changing.
Mark Jones, Head of Food and Drink at Gordons LLP, and Ged Futter, Director of GSCOP Ltd, will jointly present the workshops.
Mark is commercial dispute solicitor who specialises in food and drink law. He has worked in-house at Morrisons and Iceland. Mark has advised on GSCOP disputes and trained major suppliers and supermarkets on GSCOP for the last seven years. He is currently advising on GSCOP de-listing disputes and recently settled a £5m GSCOP claim favourably for his supplier client. Mark also assists clients responding to Competition and Markets Authority enquires made in relation to the grocery sector and how it operates.
Ged is a founding director of GSCOP Ltd, one of the few businesses to focus solely on GSCOP. Ged spent 15 years as a buyer at Asda.
