Gordons raise £32,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care

Leading Yorkshire law firm Gordons raised a massive £32,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care in the last year.

People from across the firm raised the funds through various activities after voting to make the organisation’s Bradford hospice their chosen charity for the 12 months beginning a year ago.

Teams from the firm raised over £6,000 taking part in the Marie Curie Great Escape Challenge – involving hiking, cycling and kayaking, among other activities – over a weekend.

In addition, Gordons’ people raised £1,500 by organising a gourmet curry evening for almost 100 Leeds professionals at the Leeds’ Alea Casino. Other fundraising activities included ‘bake offs’, half and full marathons, quizzes and tackling the 81-mile Etape Caledonia bike ride across the Scottish Highlands.

The huge amount of money raised is making a massive difference to the lives of patients and their families at an extremely difficult time.”

Marie Curie provides end-of-life care to terminally ill patients in their own homes and its nine hospices throughout the UK. The Bradford site has a 16-bed inpatient unit and a fully-equipped day service department, offering individual support sessions and various group activities to patients and their families.
