Gordons has successfully hosted two leadership-themed dinners with legendary rugby union coach Sir Ian McGeechan for over 40 of the county’s most prominent business people.

The only man to have coached the British & Irish Lions five times, Sir Ian discussed his personal journey as a leader and the lessons he learnt which can be applied to business and team environments.

Commenting, Gordons managing partner, Paul Ayre, said: “Sir Ian’s experience of building successful world-class teams, and making the right decisions under pressure, has given him a distinct understanding of leadership.

“It was fascinating to hear him talk about core values and team dynamics. What he said has practical, real world applications and generated a series of insightful questions from attendees. Both dinners were a great success. We intend to host similar thought provoking events for Yorkshire’s business leaders in the future.”

Sir Ian achieved two series victories as coach of the British & Irish Lions and is currently executive president of Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Club.

“Both evenings were hugely enjoyable and it was a pleasure to speak to some of the county’s leading business people,” said Sir Ian. “There are many similarities between high performance sporting environments and those created by successful businesses. Gordons provided an ideal forum for thoughts and ideas from sport and business to be shared.”
