Gordons has recruited the highly respected Jo Williamson from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking as its business development director.

Jo is well-known to the leaders of many of the region’s private companies having worked for Lloyds Banking Group for 30 years overall and within its commercial banking team for the past two decades. As the bank’s regional business development director, she was responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with Yorkshire companies with turnovers ranging from £25m to £1bn.

In her new role, Jo will work alongside Gordons partners and fee earners in building and enhancing new and existing client relationships.

Commenting on her appointment, Jo said: “I’m proud to have spent my professional life in banking with Lloyds, building valued relationships with business leaders and delivering new business opportunities.

“When I started to consider a new career challenge it was important to me to find another strong brand that I could endorse with confidence and authenticity and Gordons is that.

“I really enjoy being part of the Yorkshire business community and I wanted to be part of a high quality team. In my banking role, I’ve always had a good relationship with Gordons and admired the brand. I like the values of the firm and its emphasis on client relationships. I had several options but it was the natural place for me.

“I’m excited and proud to be joining the Gordons team and I’m looking forward to building new client relationships with them.”

The firm’s clients either headquartered or operating in Yorkshire include national supermarket Morrisons; global electric heating and domestic appliance manufacturer Glen Dimplex Group; motor retailer JCT600; construction and high performance materials manufacturer Saint Gobain; and international brewers Molson Coors.

Gordons managing partner, Paul Ayre, said: “We’ve known Jo for many years. She has a great reputation and is trusted in the business world. She shares the Gordons values of being straightforward and authentic, which are key to building longstanding relationships. We’re delighted that she’s chosen to join us.”
