Construction expert promoted to Junior Equity Partner

Tuesday 6th May 2014

Yorkshire law firm Gordons has promoted construction specialist Anjon Mallik to junior equity partner.

Mr Mallik now operates at the level created in 2010 to identify and develop people capable of attaining full equity partner status. This introduces them to the strategic running of the business and involves them in a higher level of decision making than applies at his former level of partner.

A specialist in construction and commercial disputes, Mr Mallik acts for businesses and individuals including many of the region’s contractors, other employers and developers. He has particular experience in delay and defect claims, loss and expense actions, plus interim and final account disputes.

Mr Mallik also has considerable successful adjudication experience, has conducted over 30 mediations, and is experienced in all aspects of Technology and Construction Court litigation and arbitration. In addition, he acts for many Yorkshire retailers, manufacturers and financial sector organisations, and deals with more mainstream commercial litigation cases, including shareholder disputes, misrepresentation and intellectual property matters.

Commenting on Mr Mallik’s promotion, Gordons managing partner, Paul Ayre, said: “Anjon thoroughly merits this recognition. He has always shown total commitment to the firm since he joined us in 2004 and it’s great to see him make this step.”

Gordons’ construction team acts for a wide range of clients, including funders and owner occupiers. It advises on all forms of construction procurement for private and commercial schemes, including drafting and negotiating relevant documents. Experts in achieving swift dispute resolution, the team’s initial strategic reviews enable clients to make early and informed decisions on the way forward, such as adjudication or court action.
