Connor Mennell shortlisted for Rising Star of the Year at Yorkshire Legal Awards

We are pleased to share news that construction lawyer Connor Mennell, has been shortlisted for Rising Star of the Year at the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2026, recognising his standout contribution to clients, colleagues and the wider profession.
Mark Smith, head of construction, and other Gordons partners were keen to nominate Connor for the award after receiving impressive feedback from clients and colleagues.
Mark Smith said: “Connor has maintained and enhanced key client relationships through his technical excellence, diligence, hard work and personability. He has provided great support to the team and clients with his ability to deliver on both contentious and non-contentious mandates.”
Connor qualified into Gordons’ specialist construction team in 2021 and has quickly established himself as a trusted adviser on complex, high-value and business-critical matters.
A recent Legal 500 testimonial described Connor as “years ahead of his experience”, “extremely hard-working and inventive on matters of strategy” and “a true star of the future”.
Connor’s impact extends beyond client matters through his involvement in trainee mentoring and recruitment as well as supporting fundraising initiatives for charities including Age UK, Smart Works, CATCH and Alzheimer’s Society.

The Yorkshire Legal Awards bring together the region’s legal community to recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements across the profession. The 2026 ceremony will take place on 8 October at New Dock Hall in Leeds.
