Yorkshire law firm Gordons has become one of the UK’s top 100 legal practices for the first time, according to the 2008 annual survey carried out by leading industry publication The Lawyer.

Following growth of 13.5 per cent in the firm’s turnover to £21.2m for the financial year 2007-08, The Lawyer now ranks Gordons at number 98 in the United Kingdom. The top 100 placing also marks the sixth successive year that the firm has recorded significant year-on-year increases in turnover and profits.

The dominant firm in Bradford in for many years, Gordons opened in Leeds in 2000 and has expanded successfully on a regional basis from both centres since then. The firm currently employs 300 people. Gordons’ clients include Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc, construction and high performance materials manufacturer Saint Gobain, international brewers Coors and the world’s largest electrical heating business, Glen Dimplex.

Gordons managing partner, Paul Ayre, said: “This is a big milestone in the firm’s history. Our success in recent years has come from providing clients with high levels of service and adding new skills and strengths to the practice whilst maintaining the personal touch. We are sure this approach will allow us to maintain our momentum and enhance our reputation as a genuine alternative to the region’s ‘big six’ law firms.”

Gordons’ legal services include advice and guidance on banking and finance, commercial property, corporate, litigation, construction, intellectual property, employment, regulatory, corporate recovery, residential conveyancing, personal injury, personal and family matters.
