Yorkshire law firm Gordons continues to move forward despite recession
Thursday 15th October 2009
Leeds and Bradford law firm Gordons has announced a 2.1 per cent improvement in turnover to £21.7m for the last financial year making it the seventh successive year that the firm has recorded a year-on-year increase in revenue.
These results also see Gordons move up the rankings in the annual survey of the UK’s top 100 legal practices carried out by leading industry publication The Lawyer. Average profit per equity partner for 2008-09 was £478,079.
Gordons’ managing partner, Paul Ayre, said: “The 12 months to March 2009 were very difficult for the legal sector as a whole, so we are proud to have achieved growth despite the challenges we were faced with. It is testimony to the strength of our client relationships, the balance of the practice and the ability of our people.
“Economic conditions remain difficult, although we are beginning to see tangible evidence of improvement in a number of areas. However, it is too early to say if this recovery is fully sustainable so we will continue to manage the business prudently to ensure that we are best placed to take advantage of any opportunities as they arise.
“We are positive about the future and I am confident that the committed and talented team of people we have at Gordons will enable us to continue our progress.”
