Wednesday 9th March 2011

Yorkshire law firm Gordons has advised the shareholders of Advent Data, a leading distributor of electronic office supplies on the sale of the company to DCC, a sales, marketing, distribution and business support services group.

Elland-based Advent Data, which had revenues in the year ending 31 August 2010 of £129 million and an adjusted operating profit of £3.9million, was acquired for a total consideration of up to £25million. The business will operate within DCC’s SerCom division and will complement DCC SerCom’s strong market position in Reseller distribution in the UK through its Micro-P business and provides an excellent platform for the combined business to grow its market share in the product sector.

The Gordons team advising Advent Data was Peter Barton and Jonathan Asquez. Corporate finance advice was provided by Oliver Hoffman and Rob Burton at the Leeds office of international accountancy firm Mazars, and Gareth John of HBJ Gateley Wareing provided legal advice to DCC.

Advent Data’s managing director Raj Advani said: “We are pleased to see our hard work culminating in this transaction and we look forward to taking the business forward as part of a well respected international group.”

Jonathan Asquez of Gordons, commented: “We are delighted to have worked closely with Mazars to bring the deal to a successful close for our client. The deal marks the start of a new growth phase for Advent Data and the beginning of an exciting future.”
