Yorkshire Law firm advises York-based Pavers on acquisition

A team of specialist lawyers from retail@gordons has advised York-based Pavers, one of the UK’s leading footwear retail specialists, on its acquisition of shoe-shop.com as part of its growth plan to become a global multi-channel shoe retailer.
shoe-shop.com, founded in 1999 and also headquartered in York, has grown to become one of Europe’s largest online shoe stores with a turnover of £10m, in excess of one million customers and selling a multitude of brands. The central operations of the two businesses will be based at Pavers’ state-of-the-art 90,000 sq ft head office and distribution centre in Poppleton, York.
The deal was handled by retail@gordons solicitor Duncan Firman whilst tax advice was provided by accountants Clough & Co. Commenting on the acquisition, Duncan said: “Pavers has a reputation for innovation and this deal provides the business with a strong platform to generate further growth in what is a very competitive market”.

It sells a wide range of well known brands such as CAT, Hush Puppies, Timberland, Merrell, Flyflot, Padders, Equity and Clarks and has also created a successful own label range.
