What has happened to David Roberts & Co?

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (‘SRA’) has intervened into the practice of David Roberts & Co of Victoria House 96-98, Victoria Road, New Brighton, Wirral, Merseyside, England, CH45 2JF.  An intervention is the name given to the regulatory closure of solicitors’ practices.  While David Roberts & Co had ceased acting for clients earlier in the year, the intervention took place on 12 July 2018.

Gordons LLP of Forward House, 8 Duke Street, Bradford, BD1 3QX have been appointed to help the SRA with the closure. They are called the SRA’s Intervention Agent.

What does this mean?

If you were a client, David Roberts & Co can no longer act for you. You will need to find another lawyer to act. Gordons are not acting for you.

What’s happened to my file?

The SRA has taken all clients’ files in David Roberts & Co’s offices for safekeeping. At the time of the intervention, David Roberts & Co’s offices were already closed so were they were not acting for clients on ongoing matters.  If they had been acting for you on something which you thought was ongoing please contact Gordons on 01274 703950.

Where can I have my file sent?

If a file has been recovered for you, you can have this sent to you or to your new lawyer.

If there are two or more of you named as clients, you will need to agree where the file should be sent.  If you want your file to be sent to you, you will need to provide some copy identification. It won’t cost you anything to have your documents sent.

What should I do if David Roberts & Co were acting for a developer selling a property to me and I’m worried about what’s happened to my money?
