Leading bus operator Transdev Blazefield has acknowledged its relationship with Gordons is far from the terminus by renewing the contract between the organisations for another year.

The Harrogate-based client originally appointed Gordons in 2013, after a competitive tender process, to adopt an innovative approach – combine its extensive transport, human resources (HR), employment and regulatory law expertise, to deliver a fully integrated service.

Transdev Blazefield provides bus services in North and West Yorkshire, plus Lancashire, through six subsidiary companies, centring on locations including Harrogate, Keighley, Malton and Burnley & Pendle.

Martin Gilbert, Transdev Blazefield’s chief executive, said of the contract renewal: “We like Gordons’ cost-effective and joined-up approach, which means we deal with a single team and have the maximum time left to get on with our jobs.

“We’ve also been impressed with Gordons’ commitment, frank advice and knowledge of the bus industry. The firm has delivered exactly what it promised, in terms of both quality and quantity, and we had no hesitation in extending the relationship for another year.”

The law firm’s extensive transport and logistics sector experience includes advising: Morley-based Hermes, the UK’s leading consumer delivery specialist; independent freight company Redhead International, whose headquarters are in Bradford; and York-based leading temperature-controlled food distribution business Read Boardall.

Gordons’ successful original tender was compiled by its transport specialist Sheena Pickersgill, who has 15 years’ experience in the sector, including nine as executive director for corporate services at Metro, the West Yorkshire passenger transport executive.

Sheena said: “We’re very pleased that Transdev Blazefield has renewed the contract, as we’re really enjoying working with Martin and his team, in a spirit of genuine partnership. Our businesses have many synergies – we’re both passionate about what we do and are results-driven, for example.

“The renewal represents a vindication of our approach that we go way beyond the traditional policy of merely quoting the law to clients. Instead, we provide practical, commercially-focused advice, not just on legal matters but a range of related topics too. This ensures our clients’ businesses benefit to the maximum extent.”
