Watchdog issues warning over air conditioning ads

Tuesday 14th July 2026

Advertisers have been taking advantage of rising temperatures this summer and have released air-conditioning campaigns to entice customers. The advertising watchdog has expressed concerns over claims made by air-conditioning companies which are likely misleading. Examples include:

  • Devices being able to cool whole homes quickly
  • Money saving benefits and efficiency of air conditioning units
  • Revolutionary and/or British engineered claims
  • Breakthrough invention claims

The ASA reminds viewers that they can report misleading adverts and provides a warning to advertisers of their obligations to ensure people can make informed decisions.
