Manufacturer fined £100,000 after employee suffered hand injuries in unguarded machine

A worker at a chemical manufacturing company suffered hand injuries when it became caught in an unguarded conveyor.

Health and Safety Executive (HSE) prosecuted the company who pleaded guilty to breaching Regulation 11(1) of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 after the investigation found that the company had failed to prevent access to dangerous moving parts. The company was fined £100,000 and ordered to pay £6,468.18 in costs.
