HSE urges industry to check guidance following Swindon explosion

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published a press release requesting users of printing machinery alike that involved in a recent explosion to check the latest industry guidance.
An explosion occurred in Swindon on 24 September 2025 and since this incident, HSE and Office for Product Safety Standards (OPSS) have worked together to produce a Product Safety Report.
HSE has directly contacted all known users instructing them to ensure they have referenced the guidance and to cease operations if they are in doubt.
HSE is investigating the design of the machine in question and a possible link with a similar explosion in South Wales which resulted in a fatality.
