Global Asbestos Week

Thursday 16th April 2026

From 1 to 7 April Global Asbestos Awareness Week aims to highlight the importance of asbestos safety and to highlight the risks associated with its use.

Although banned over 25 years ago, asbestos can still be present in any building built before 2000. Asbestos is commonly found in:

  • floor and ceiling tiles
  • boilers and storage heaters
  • ironing boards
  • old water tanks
  • planters and pots
  • gutters and down pipes

Regulators are becoming increasingly focused on organisations management of the risk of asbestos and the protection of employees from foreseeable risk.
