DEFRA publishes policy paper against Environmental Improvement Plan
Thursday 11th December 2025
The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has published a policy paper to map biodiversity targets against the Environmental Improvement Plan (EIP) outcomes for England.
The paper outlines how DEFRA plans to improve access to nature, protect environmental security, and restore nature as part of England’s delivery of the UK national biodiversity strategy and action plan.
The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, that the EIP was created to implement, was agreed at the UN Nature Summit COP15 in 2022 and includes 23 global targets to be met by 2030.
