ASA ruling on food supplement company
Friday 15th May 2026
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled against GLP-1 Pro Ltd in relation to two website pages on their website.
The homepage of the website stated ‘Stubborn weight gone. Guaranteed. A science-backed blend of natural fibres that helps you feel fuller for longer – supporting healthy, sustainable weight loss without injections’ along with ‘Natural Weight Loss & Blood Sugar Support’ and ‘Natural Alternative To Trending Weight Loss Products’ The website also featured a comparison table containing an image of the GuLP-1 packaging next to an injection pen.
The second webpage, which was a listing for the product ‘Weight Loss+ Formulation’ included the text ‘Engineered for optimum weight loss by naturally increasing GLP-1 levels’ and ‘Weight: Unlock results with reduced cravings’.
In their response, GLP-1 Pro Ltd stated that they relied on health claims that were authorised to the GB NHC Register and used authorised wording, and that any other wording used was generic rather than a standalone health claim. They did, however, remove all references to “GLP-1”, hormones, needles, injections, and comparisons to prescription medicines. Following ASA’s correspondence.
The ASA upheld the complaint stating that the claims ‘Stubborn weight gone’, ‘Natural weight loss’, etc. would be understood by consumers as referring to weight loss products and were therefore specific health claims in accordance with the code. Further, no evidence was available that showed the claims were authorised on the GB NHC Register in relation to the product or any of its ingredients.
