ASA publishes report on environmental claims made by travel agents

Thursday 11th December 2025

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has published a snapshot report on how effectively environmental advertising rules are being followed by the travel agent sector between August 2024 and June 2025.

Of 362,000 unique ads reviewed, only 1% contained any environmental reference. 33% of the advertisements that did reference the environment were compliant. The remaining non-complaint ads were vague, used unqualified terms, sector-specific terms, or made broad statements about sustainability.

Advertisements that contain environmental claims must be clear and supported by evidence to allow consumers to make better, more informed choices.
