Animal feed manufacturer fined after worker trapped in unguarded conveyor
Thursday 17th September 2026
Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has prosecuted an animal feed manufacturer after a maintenance engineer suffered serious injuries when their arm got pulled into an unguarded conveyor. The worker was left with significant injuries requiring multiple operations.
HSE’s investigation found that a hole had been cut in the conveyor to access it to clear blockages meaning that moving parts remained exposed.
The company pleaded guilty to section 2(1) Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and was fined £160,000.
