The Wharfedale Ton charity cycle ride – 10 June 2016

The Wharfedale Ton is a 100 mile charity cycle ride across Wharfedale from Ilkley to York and back again.

The ride is being held on a weekday and aims to get local business men and women out of the office and onto their bikes for a networking event whilst raising money for charity. A bit like a golf day – but for cyclists – and more fun!

People can ride alone, in pairs or in groups. As a networking event we anticipate plenty of people to ride along with. We are very happy if people wish to ride in teams and the size of your team will be limited only by how many people you know or who will ride with you. But remember, this is NOT a race. Whatever your choice of steed, road, mountain, tandem, it really doesn’t matter what you ride, so long as you are the engine.

Entry is via charitable donation of £30 per rider. Other than the small processing costs levied by the online registration site, this fee will go to our chosen charity, Marie Curie Bradford Hospice.

Other than the rest stops we have arranged for mid-morning, lunch and early afternoon, please note that this is an unsupported ride but this is nothing to worry about as we expect that people will find others of similar ability as they ride along – this is a networking event after all. We also recommend you invite colleagues/friends of similar ability to join you.

ROUTE

Most of the route is deliberately gentle and largely flat (especially in the York area!), so as long as you train (a bit) before the ride you will get back for a beer and food in the afternoon/early evening. Click here to view a map of the route.
