Marathon effort by law firm partner supports Ear Trust Appeal

A fleet of foot fundraiser from Bradford law firm Gordons raised over £2,300 at this year’s London Marathon for the ‘Listening for Life Centre’ charity appeal.
The charity – part of The Yorkshire Cochlear Implant unit – is appealing for funds to help build a new £2.5 million centre adjacent to Bradford Royal Infirmary. Once complete, it will allow the unit to continue its pioneering assessment and treatment of profoundly deaf babies, young children and adults in the North of England.
The Ear Trust is Gordons’ chosen charity for the year and staff at the Bradford-based law firm will be taking part in charitable events over a 12 month period to raise funds towards this worthwhile cause.
Tim Ratcliffe – a partner in Gordons’ corporate department – did his bit by taking part in the gruelling 26-mile endurance run, eventually coming home an admirable 7,909th out of 34,000 runners.
Tim was pleased to pass both a troop of Masai warriors and TV celebrity Ben Fogle during his inaugural run on the way to the finish line. “This was my first London Marathon and I am very proud to have raised over £2,300 for The Ear Trust,” he said. “The charity plays a crucial role in supporting the health and well being of people of all ages with hearing difficulties in the region.”
The Ear Trust has already raised over £1m towards the appeal and is hopeful that its overall target will be met so that work on the new centre can be completed by early 2009.
