Law firm Gordons Construction department announces ten new clients
Tuesday 6th February 2007
Following an unprecedented period of business development success, the construction law department at Leeds and Bradford-based solicitors Gordons has secured ten new clients.
Established just 12 months ago under the leadership of former Eversheds construction partner Richard Piper, the department currently comprises three solicitors although plans are currently underway to recruit two more lawyers to handle the increased workloads.
Six of the new clients are property developers and include Leeds companies Citywall Corporation, Hartley Property Trust, EMCO Estates Holdings and Nathan Incorporated. Ilkley-based property developers AQH Micklegate and Oaklyn Investments (whose interests are in Sheffield) complete the list of developers.
The remainder are contractors consisting of UK builder Rok plc, Ilkley-based Quarmby Construction, Shipley-based Stainforth Construction and Bradford-based HAM Construction.
Richard Piper said: “Our approach has been to foster close relationships with developers and contractors that enable us to provide them with excellent service levels and effective legal advice. This has ensured that, from a standing start, the Gordons construction law team has been able to firmly establish itself as a viable alternative to the competition in a short space of time.”
Work carried out by Gordons in the last 12 months has included acting in respect of a multi-million pound arbitration concerning a retail development and advising on a significant damages claim arising out of a residential apartment scheme in Leeds.
Richard continued: “We have a very ambitious team and we intend to continue growing our client-base through our straight-forward approach to addressing often complex construction law issues. The feedback we are receiving from our clients is that we provide them with a refreshing approach that is both cost-effective and results-driven. We don’t get in the way of solutions. We help make them happen. It is a successful formula and we aim to stick to it.”
