Leeds and Bradford law firm Gordons has successfully advised Saltaire-based bespoke tailors, Salts, on the acquisition of Norton & Townsend Bespoke Tailors. The deal sees Salts become the largest British-owned visiting tailor business in the UK and the only nationwide operator with sales over £1m in the next 12 months.

The business is part of a larger group of companies owned and managed by Bradford-born Austen Pickles, with a combined turnover of £7m.

Salts offers bespoke tailoring from its showrooms, but also offers a visiting tailor service at clients’ homes or offices, by appointment only.

Commenting on the acquisition, Austen Pickles said: “Norton & Townsend is a perfect fit for Salts. It is a very well established and highly regarded business. I have a great respect for its roots and values and am determined to drive the business forward based on these firm foundations.”
