Yorkshire law firm Gordons has successfully acted for national supermarket chain Morrisons during the negotiation of a new three year exclusive supply agreement with EDF Energy.

The agreement is believed to be one of the highest value commercial energy deals in the UK. As part of the deal Morrisons and EDF have agreed to work together to implement innovative renewable energy solutions and energy savings programs which will save Morrisons at least £1 million in each year of the agreement and significantly reduce Morrisons’ carbon footprint.

Paul Hooper, Services Programme Manager at Morrisons, said: “The Gordons team provided us with a well-structured, highly responsive service to help secure this new deal”.

Morrisons is the UK’s fourth largest food retailer with 467 stores nationwide. It provides food and grocery products to nine million customers each week and employs over 132,000 staff in its stores, factories, distribution centres and head office.
