Gordons football tournament scores £1,280 for Willow Young Carers

Tuesday 14th July 2015

Gordons has raised £1,280 for Willow Young Carers after 13 corporate teams from across Yorkshire battled it out in a five-a-side football tournament.

The matches took place at Goals Soccer Centre in Leeds as part of Gordons’ year-long fundraising effort for Willow Young Carers. The Leeds-based charity provides support to children and young people who care for family members affected by a physical or mental illness, disability or substance misuse problems.

Deloitte took home the spoils as they were crowned champions with a closely contested 1-0 win in the final over PwC. They quickly became favorites as the tournament progressed, topping their group with three wins and a draw. Things were more difficult in their path to the final but two 1-0 wins over the Gordons B team and Sagars saw them through to the finals.

In the runners-up Plate trophy final, Rothschild edged out the Gordons A team in an exhilarating penalty shoot-out after knocking out HSBC 1-0 in the semifinal.
