Gordons advises JM Glendinning on acquisition of A.S. Green & Co

Gordons has advised Yorkshire-based insurance firm, JM Glendinning, in its acquisition of A.S Green & Co to support its ambitious growth strategy, extending the group’s footprint to cover the whole of Yorkshire and the North East.

JM Glendinning is a privately owned group comprising of eight companies spanning insurance broking, financial services, employment law, health and safety and recruitment services. The firm employs more than 130 staff and has offices in West, South and East Yorkshire, the North East and the Midlands.

Established in 1987, A.S. Green, which has 13 staff and a turnover of £2.2m, provides business and personal insurance and risk management services to clients.

Managing director Nick Houghton said the AS Green acquisition represented another step forward in the group’s plans to double in size over the next two years, expand its reach throughout the north of England and create 20 jobs.

AS Green founder Tony Green will continue to lead the business in Scarborough and said there would be very little change to the day-to-day running of the firm, and that clients would benefit from being part of a larger insurance group.

Gordons corporate team led by solicitor Duncan Firman advised JM Glendinning on the deal and Dahren Naidoo, corporate finance partner at Freeths LLP, led the team advising the sellers.
