A team led by Gordons corporate partner Jonathan Asquez and assisted by solicitors Stephanie Houghton and Sophie Wilson advised international accounting firm Mazars on its acquisition of the North West’s leading medical accountancy practice.
Hall Liddy will join Mazars’ established specialist healthcare sector team to form one of the largest providers of tax services, accounting, and advice to GPs and medical consultants in the UK.
All 31 people of the Hall Liddy team will join Mazars’ Manchester office, located in St. Peter’s Square, accompanied by the existing management team of Des Liddy, Andrew Pow, and Melanie Thomas, who will join the Mazars’ partnership following the acquisition. David Hall will join Mazars on a consultancy basis. Hall Liddy was established in Manchester in 1992. The firm advises over 2600 clients in the medical sector including GP practices, salaried GPs, locums, hospital doctors and consultants, as well as barristers and retired professionals.
As part of Mazars, the team will be able to respond to the shifting needs of the health sector clients, reflecting the demand for a growing range of digital solutions which can be seamlessly adopted using Mazars’ suite of Accounting and Outsourcing Services. These are delivered via the Cloud and include compliance, payroll, tax and company secretarial services.
Margaret Laidlaw, Mazars Head of Entrepreneurial Business, said: “The healthcare sector has always been extremely important to us, and we are constantly looking for ways to deliver exceptional service and help our clients manage and grow their businesses. Hall Liddy has established an unrivalled reputation in the sector thanks to its expertise and focus on its clients: qualities which we will nurture and build upon as a national healthcare team”.
Des Liddy, Partner, said: “Having worked with GP Practices and medical consultants for nearly 30 years, we understand that the sector is unique: it requires specialist knowledge and a thorough understanding of the specific challenges and issues the sector faces. We also recognise that the healthcare landscape is changing: joining Mazars will allow us to offer a broader range of advisory services for clients combined with adoption of the latest technology, tools and systems, while seamlessly maintaining the bespoke service and personal relationships our clients value”.
Tim Hudson, Manchester Office Managing Partner, said: “We are proud to welcome Hall Liddy to Mazars, and to work alongside a team with such an exceptional reputation in the North West.
