Gordons advises Intelligent Data Systems on acquisition by AA DriveTech

Tuesday 9th August 2011

A team of lawyers from Gordons has advised the shareholders of risk management solutions provider Intelligent Data Systems (IDS) on its sale to AA DriveTech, the UK’s leading provider of driver training, assessment and driver awareness schemes.

IDS provides a suite of online management tools allowing those who manage both company-owned and employee-owned vehicles to have detailed, consolidated information about both drivers and vehicles, allowing them to meet their duty of care obligations with the minimum of effort.

The Gordons team was led by corporate partner James Fawcett and included commercial property solicitor Rachel Thompson. Head of employment Philip Paget provided employment advice.

Jonathan Jerome, commercial director at Intelligent Data Systems, commented: “We were very impressed with the advice and guidance that James and his team provided throughout the sale process.

“Having worked very closely with the AA for a number of years, we’re delighted to be joining the AA family. It’s very much ‘business as usual’ as our customers will continue to deal with the same teams and people as they always have and this was a particularly important element of the deal for the directors and management team at Intelligent Data Systems”.

AA DriveTech is part of the AA Group and annually re-trains over 23,000 employees of various organisations who drive for work purposes through its FleetSafe division.

Commenting on the deal, James Fawcett said: “It was a pleasure to work with the IDS team on this deal. It provides the company with the resources to expand on its market leading position whilst creating opportunities to offer its services to AA DriveTech customers.”
