ONR issues improvement notice after fall from height

The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) has issued an improvement notice to a company after there was a fall from height at a nuclear power station. The worker fell from portable steps while replacing a light fitting and suffered serious leg injuries.

The improvement notice is issued in accordance with regulation 4(1) of the Work at Height Regulations 2005 which requires employers to ensure that all work at height is properly planned, supervised and carried out in a safe manner.
