Construction companies fined after worker falls through roof
Tuesday 16th June 2026
Two construction companies have been fined £79,300 after a scaffolder fell through a roof skylight.
The worker was on the roof carrying materials to instal temporary scaffolding edge protection when he stepped on the skylight and fell more than 6 metres breaking his arm and leg.
An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found that both companies failed to plan, manage and monitor the work being undertaken by the scaffolders at the unit as no measures were in place to prevent scaffolders from falling from the edge of the warehouse unit.
The companies pleaded guilty to breaching The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Regulation 15 and The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Regulation 13.
