Eurotunnel fined £2.25m after surveyor suffered serious injuries
Thursday 16th April 2026
The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) has prosecuted The Channel Tunnel Group Limited (Eurotunnel) for breaches of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 after a surveyor was serious injured when a lighting carriage fell onto them.
The lighting carriage was being winched on the top of a mast when the wires holding it together failed. ORR found in its investigation that Eurotunnel failed to take measures to ensure the plant and premises were safe.
Eurotunnel pleaded guilty to breach of s.4 of Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
