ASA and CAP have Published their Annual Report

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and The Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) have Published their 2024 Report. 

  • 33,903 ads were withdrawn or amended. 
  • There was a 10x increase in the number of ads processed in 2024 in comparison to 2023 as a result of ASA and CAP’s new AI toolkit. 
  • 777,321 pieces of advice and training were delivered to businesses. 
  • 59% of their activity was preventative/proactive. 
  • High levels of compliance demonstrated following airline rulings. Of 140,000 ads monitored in April 2024, only five were found to be non-compliant. 
  • Of 82,657 occasions when an ad was served in the media, 133 related to age-restricted ads mistargeted a child or neutral avatar.
  • ASA investigated eight separate drug and alcohol rehabilitation services as a result of misleading ads. 
  • Commissioned three ad related projects to increase understanding of the concerns people had surrounding ads.
