Monday 17th November 2025
A housing construction company and four employees have entered not guilty pleas after a woman was crushed seven years ago. The company pleaded not guilty to charges of corporate manslaughter and breaching s.3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
The woman was on her way home after dropping her son off at school when she was struck by a pallet carrying bricks which had fallen from a crane tower. The woman was rushed to the hospital, where she subsequently died.
A 12-week trial has now been set for 1 October 2026.
This incident is a reminder that businesses have a duty to ensure the safety of anyone that may interact with their operations, as well as a duty to protect employees.
