ASA publish its mid-year report for 2025

Thursday 6th November 2025

The Advertising Standards Authority (‘ASA’) has published its 2025 mid-year progress report and its objectives for 2026. Stand-out points from 2025 (January to June) include:

  • 22 million ads/potential ads were scanned through its ‘active ads monitoring system’;
  • Around 300,000 instances of advice and training was given to businesses; and
  • 80% of complaints were dealt with within the ASA’s internal timeframes.

Key objectives for 2026 include:

  • Prioritise monitoring ads relating to carbon neutrality and net zero;
  • Continue its use of generative AI to help progress cases;
  • Develop its ‘copy advice’ charging service for advertisers; and
  • Launch its Intermediary and Platform Principles self-regulatory framework to assist the ASA monitor and tackle irresponsible ads on social media.
