CMA investigation into Ticketmaster draws to a close

Monday 13th October 2025

On 5 September 2024, the CMA opened an investigation into Ticketmaster’s compliance with consumer protection law promoted by their ‘dynamic pricing’ of Oasis tickets. ‘Dynamic pricing’ is when businesses inflate prices of products or services to reflect changing market conditions, typically upwards to meet greater demand.

In September 2025, Ticketmaster signed ‘undertakings’ and agreed to do certain things in the future. This included:

  • Informing fans 24 hours in advance if a tiered pricing system is being used;
  • Providing more information about ticket prices during online queues, to help fans anticipate how much they might have to pay;
  • Not use any misleading ticket labels; and
  • Reporting to the CMA on a regular basis over the next two years.

This case is a helpful reminder for businesses to ensure that their pricing practices are transparent, easy to understand for consumers and fair. Failure to do so may result in a CMA investigation, an unfavourable reputable and PR, and loss of business in the future.
