CMA enforce consumer review policy requirement
Tuesday 2nd September 2025
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) will be actively looking to hand down penalties to businesses (of up to 10% of global turnover) who do not have a compliant, publicly available and implemented consumer review policy.
Businesses that publish customer reviews should ensure they take steps to ensure they have available policies outlining how they prohibit fake reviews and their approach to incentivised reviews.
On 4 September, the CMA will be hosting a seminar on “complying with consumer law if you publish online reviews” which is free and available for all businesses.
