Steel manufacturer fined £1.5 million after death of contractor

The HSE (Health and Safety Executive) has prosecuted steel manufacturer after a contractor suffered fatal injuries after being crushed by a piece of machinery. The company pleaded guilty to breaching sections 2(1) and 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and was fined £1.5 million. The company has had 10 previous health and safety convictions.
