BrewDog advert about alcohol upheld as irresponsible

Tuesday 19th August 2025

The ASA upheld a complaint against BrewDog for a poster about one of their crafts beers “Wingman. Always got your back” with some text underneath about failing WiFi, bad weather and delayed friends. The complaint focused on the ad implying that alcohol was a remedy for disappointment, suffering and isolation. BrewDog said the ad and text underneath was clearly framed as mundane, everyday nuisances.

The ASA found that the everyday nuisances mentioned in the ad would likely result in a person having their day interrupted in a negative way, potentially leading to loneliness and viewed as problematic, and so upheld the complaint.
