
Breach of environmental permit leads to fine of £892,500

The Environment Agency prosecuted East Midlands Airport for breaching their environmental permit after they allowed discharges of drainage water and runway de-icing fluid. The airport breached the limit of Biological Oxygen Demand on three occasions in 2022 and were fined £297,500 for each offence, totalling £892,500.
