Real Legal – SRA Intervention

On 29 July 2025 the the Solicitors Regulation Authority (‘SRA’) intervened into the practice of Real Legal of Suite 5, Empire Business Centre, 2 Empire Way, Burnley, BB12 6HH.

 

What does this mean?

If you were a client of Real Legal, they can no longer act for you. You will need to find a new solicitor to act. Gordons are not acting for you. If you need help finding a new solicitor you can search for a new solicitor on the Law Society’s Find a Solicitor site, or you can call the Law Society on 020 7320 5650 Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00.

 

How do I get my file?

All ongoing files for which we received a file request form have been released. All remaining files have been collected and taken to the SRA for storage. You can request your file by contacting the SRA’s archives team at iaf@sra.org.uk or 0204 525 0250.

 

What if my file was transferred to a new solicitors?

If your file was transferred to a new solicitor and they have taken over your matter, you should continue to liaise with the new solicitor.

 

What has happened to old/archived files, wills and deeds?

All archived files, wills and deeds held in storage by Real Legal are now held by the SRA. If you want to request old/archived files please contact the SRA’s archives team at iaf@sra.org.uk or 0204 525 0250.

 

Real Legal were holding money for me. What should I do?

If you believe Real Legal were holding money for you, you may be able to apply to the SRA Compensation Fund. As it is a discretionary fund, applications are considered using the criteria set out in the rules.
